Darrian T90 2.0 Vauxhall XE |
Ken Thomson’s Privilege Insurance National GT Championship winning race car was bought as a rolling shell and a fuel injected SBD 252 Vauxhall engine (ex Olly Ross) and Hewland FT200 transaxle (ex a bloke in a pub) were bought and fitted. It took a while to get the car set up for rallying and to get used to it. Over the 2 years that we campaigned this Darrian, speed gradually built up and at the last 2 rallies that we did at Ingliston, we notched up a 3rd overall/1st in class behind 2 6R4s and an equal fastest overall stage time at the last rally. This was a decent car and the engine was a good, powerful unit with good torque. It didn’t sound quite like a BDA though. The Darrian was sold and retirement beckoned – again.
